I will accompany you on the first step of making your own notebook, while introducing my favorite notebooks and writing utensils.

    Using an actual painting kit, we will demonstrate how to paint various lettering using brushes and paints, layout tips, etc. Participants will be given a kit with an original brush and template, so you can start practicing at home without any difficulty.

    Japanese modern calligraphy

    These are two workshops where you can enjoy modern Japanese calligraphy. In "Wrapping and Gifting," you will make a "Bunbukuro Shihobukuro" (a wrapping with four treasures) package supervised by the Origata Design Institute, and in "Comoji and Wind Ink," you will finish a postcard with a dip pen and ink. In both, you can learn the basics of modern Japanese calligraphy.

    Birthday Card Lesson

    Draw animals and birds with a dip pen and ink, and create a birthday card with a message. We will also teach you how to use the tools and tips to make the animals and birds look realistic. We will provide animal samples and paper to trace, so even those who are not very artistic can participate with confidence.

    In "Drawing with a Glass Pen," you will create a beautiful flower illustration card using a glass pen. You will start by tracing, so even if you are new to drawing, you can participate with confidence. In "Sketching Seasonal Flowers," fresh flowers are the motif. Let's sketch while enjoying the color, shape, and scent.

    Two gift arrangements are proposed

    In "Box Arrangement," you will make wrapping paper, and in "Tag Arrangement and Triangle Wrapping," you will make tags. In both classes, you will practice words that can be used for gifts in modern calligraphy. We will also teach you how to stamp and give ideas for wrapping. Calligraphy beginners are also welcome to participate.

    We will draw phrases using five fonts introduced in my book "Easy! Fun! A Little Lettering with Your Own Pen." I will explain the characteristics and writing methods of each font in an easy-to-understand way, and also share tips on how to arrange them. Even beginners and those who are not confident can participate with confidence.

    "Drawing Japanese komon and business cursive with a glass pen" is a one-day intensive course. "Creating your own artwork with ink, lines, and white space" is about creating art while having a dialogue with yourself. "Drawing envelope designs with Japanese characters" is about writing the address in Japanese script with a pointed pen.

    The one-minute portrait can be drawn of a dog or cat, not just a human! The original nameplate and sign maker will listen to your design requests on the spot, draw a nameplate or sign, and hand it over to you on the day. It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as a welcome board, a nameplate for your home, a small sign for a store, or a gift for someone.
